I loved this article. I'm from Finland and now live in LA. I still can't wrap my mind around so many things, many of which you listed here. The loudness everywhere, the poor public transport, people using one plastic bag per cereal box instead of packing several items in many of bringing their own, just to name a few.

I guess some Americans feel their patriotic pride is a bit hurt when reading articles like these. In my opinion, it is more patriotic to realize and accept the things that one's country/government is failing at and try to do better individually.
